Minor International Pcl (‘MINT'), together with S&P Syndicate Pcl (‘S&P') and Chef Chumpol Jangprai have entered into a partnership to launch a culinary institute under the name of "Thai Cuisine Academy". This is seen as a major step in the restaurant industry as two leading restaurant operators, together with the renowned Iron Chef Chumpol have joined forces.

The Thai Cuisine Academy aims to be the best learning institution in Thai Cuisine for both professional and non-professional individuals. In addition to operating a culinary school, the Academy will also operate as a recruitment center for Thai chefs and as a consultant for those who would like to open a Thai restaurant. The four courses offered range from one month to a 9-month Thai professional chef course, suitable for both individuals who hold an interest in cooking and those who wish to pursue a career in the restaurant industry. Over the past years, Thai restaurants have gained immense popularity abroad. However, a significant number of such restaurants are not owned by Thais and many dishes have been altered that they have lost their unique Thai taste. Thus, as the purpose of cooking and serving true Thai food was envisioned, this academy was created. The academy, located at the heart of Thonglor, is able to graduate over 100 students for professional chef per year, and its courses are designed to allow students to apply the knowledge they learn to their culinary careers both domestically and internationally in order to satisfy the growing demand of Thai food on a global scale.

Mr. William E. Heinecke, Chairman and Group CEO of MINT, commented: "We are delighted to further strengthen our partnership with S&P through this joint-venture. MINT has always put great emphasis on the development of people. The Thai Cuisine Academy will help strengthen the talent pool for not only restaurants under Minor Food Group and Minor Hotel Group, but also for others. In addition, Thai Cuisine Academy also paves the way for growth opportunity, given the increasing popularity of Thai food globally."

Ms. Patara Sila-on, Chairman of S&P Syndicate said: "S&P has extensive and proven experience in Thai cuisine. Our Thai restaurant presence in both domestic and international scenes has allowed us to understand customers' preferences and tastes in various markets over the years. We look forward to being part of the team to share what we know about the art of Thai food with the world."

Chef Chumpol, co-creator of Thai Cuisine Academy courses added: "I am very honored to have the opportunity to convey the art and the creativity of Thai cooking. Together with MINT and S&P, we will help broaden and strengthen the reputation of Thai food in the global arena."

More details and information on the courses can be inquired on 0 2185 1414. Students' admission will begin from October 2014 onwards and the Academy plans to be opened in November 2014.
